| In recent years, with the outbreak of academic misconduct incidents, the term "retraction" has frequently entered the public eye, evolving from a neutral professional term to a popular expression carrying negative moral judgment. This semantic drift has caused confusion in academic publishing work - the same term carries completely different professional connotations, which can easily lead to misunderstandings and the spread of stigmatization. In fact, "retraction" in the context of academic publishing at least includes three independent meanings, and editors need to distinguish them rigorously. |
