| References may serve as a referencing system for academic evaluation of a paper. Based on the recognition of rationality of authors' shelf-citations, it is considered that the analyses on characteristics of authors' shelf-citations and their roles in papers are conductive to the quality evaluation of the paper. The methods of evaluation are elaborated briefly. |
