| Based on investigation of 500 academic sci-tech journals on total contents and indexes, this paper reveals that total contents accounts for major part compared with subject index, author index and keyword index. We analyze the reason of choosing total contents and indexes, and propose that the end volume of academic and technical journals should compile subject index and keyword index supplement with author index. Total contents or subject index is appropriated for comprehensive journals and popular science journals while author index is no necessarily required. Retrieval journals should compile keyword index. Page number of total contents and index accounts for 1.5% of total page number is reasonable. We conclude that nonstandard of compiling and description format exist widely, training on GB/T3179-2009 should be strengthened for journals running in accordance with the standard. |
