| The ratio of funding-sponsored articles to the total is an important index in academic journals evaluation, but there are improper marking of foundation in some academic articles. The previous studies ascribed it to the authors and editors, and it is 15 years since the problem was posed. This article argues that there are two deep-seated causes of improper marking foundation in academic articles. Firstly, some researchers repeatedly apply the same foundations, projects and programs, which results in improper marking foundation of academic articles. Secondly, it often that one article is considered as the concluding bases for more than one research projects. According to the survey on forestry academic journals, we summarize the problems of improper marking foundation and put forward some suggestions. We think that the fund management departments should monitor the repeated application of projects and monitor the concluding standard of program. Academic journals should ask the authors provide complete information of foundations. The foundations can play a role in supporting the development of science and technology only when the foundation is honestly marked in the academic articles.
