| A well-crafted column serves a dual purpose:it not only accentuates the distinctive attributes of a journal but also acts as a powerful attractor for high-quality submissions, thereby amplifying the journal’s influence. Amidst the burgeoning development opportunities available to Chinese sci-tech journals, the Chinese Journal of Applied Mechanics has proactively delved into column construction. This endeavor has resulted in the formation of a holistic lifecycle mechanism, encompassing everything from topic selection and planning to manuscript solicitation strategies and promotional efforts. The establishment of its columns is intricately aligned with the journal’s inherent strengths, addresses critical national needs, encourages interdisciplinary integration, and cultivates profound collaborations with key research teams. Consequently, this not only underscores the journal’s unique characteristics but also draws in a plethora of high-caliber manuscripts. This approach provides invaluable insights for fellow journal editors:effective column construction must be rooted in one’s own strengths, embrace innovation, and expand the network of cooperation through collaborative endeavors and knowledge sharing. By doing so, journals can continually bolster their influence and establish a more robust platform for academic research and exchange. |
